KAMLOOPS — A man and woman are in custody after they allegedly drove into a police-only parking lot with a shotgun in the front seat.

The incident began on Monday (Feb. 15) when a police officer saw a black Mercedes driving the wrong way down Columbia Street.

Kamloops RCMP attempted to pull the vehicle over, but it slowed down and continued driving before entering the “Police Only” parking lot, where officers were able to block it inside.

Both people were arrested and found to be wanted on outstanding warrants. Police noticed and seized a shotgun, ammunition and a loaded rifle.

Napoleon James Tallthunderboy Ross, 32, of Kamloops, is charged with dangerous driving and failing to stop a motor vehicle while being pursued by police.

Lanaesha Sha’Lynn Paul-Paquette, 23, of Kamloops, and Ross are both charged with transporting and storing a firearm in a manner contrary to the Firearms Act and Criminal Code and occupying a vehicle knowing there was a firearm or prohibited ammunition in the vehicle.

The two were scheduled to appear in Kamloops Provincial Court on Feb. 16.
