KAMLOOPS — Interior Health has identified a fourth COVID-19 outbreak in Kamloops. The latest outbreak, which IH revealed in news release Tuesday (Feb. 9), is at a Brocklehurst group home.

The group home on Singh Street has two separate “houses” in the same building — Highridge Home and Singh House. It houses people who require 24-hour support.

IH says six staff members at the group home have tested positive for COVID-19.

Communicable disease specialists and contact tracers are working on containment.

Meantime, the COVID-19 outbreak at Royal Inland Hospital has grown slightly Tuesday.

In an email to CFJC Today, IH said the RIH outbreak has added two cases for a total of 104 – 36 patients and 68 staff. Medical Health Officer Dr. Carol Fenton said the number of active cases is down to 42. One death has been connected to this outbreak.

Outbreaks at Westsyde Care Residence and Gemstone Care Centre remain at 26 and 25 cases, respectively.
