RCMP rush to Ashcroft Indian Band reserve, arrest man after gun complaint
ASHCROFT, B.C. — A weapons sighting resulted in a large police presence in the Ashcroft area Monday morning (Feb. 8).
In a news release, Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says the response began when a caller saw a man running through a field near New Ranch Road, armed with what looked like a handgun.
In their initial response, RCMP contained an area around the Ashcroft Indian Band reserve, including a closure of Cornwall Road and Highway 97.
Once the Emergency Response Team (ERT) was called in, officers honed in on a certain property, eventually taking a 35-year-old man into custody peacefully.
