Miley Cyrus performed for 7,500 vaccinated health care workers on Super Bowl Sunday (February 7th), making the singer’s first live performance in more than a year.

The TikTok Tailgate show lasted for more than an hour and featured guest appearances from both Billy Idol and Joan Jett.  Idol took the stage to join Cyrus for their Plastic Hearts collaboration “Night Crawling” before the pair did a duet of Idol’s 1980’s hit “White Wedding.”

Later in the show, Jett was brought onto the stage for “Bad Reputation,” ‘Bad Karma,” and “I Hate Myself For Loving You.”

Cyrus said, “Ya know, if it wasn’t for Joan Jett, without her, I don’t think that I would be me. She was always breaking barriers and stigmas and anything that divided her from the dudes. And when folks think of football weekend they don’t always picture strong women, but after this I think they will.”

Her set also included covers of the Nine Inch Nails song “Head Like A Hole” and her godmother, Dolly Parton’s classic, “Jolene.”

She closed out the tailgate with a trio of her earlier hits – “Party In The USA,” “Wrecking Ball,” and finally, “The Climb.”

Cyrus said of her closing number, “I wear a lot of glitter and I wear a lot of armor, but I also wear my heart on my sleeve and so with that, it gets broken a lot. And a lot of us have been feeling broken this year. And this song that I’m going to sing for y’all next and last, is something that as much as I need to say these lyrics for you, maybe I need to say them for me.”
