Kamloops woman scratches her way to $50,000

KAMLOOPS — A Kamloops resident is $50,000 richer.

Merna Johnston checked her scratch and win ticket that she purchased at Northhills Mall on Tranquille Road recently. When the retailer scanned the ticket and saw the grand total, she yelled in excitement to Johnston that she “broke her machine.”

“It was a complete shocker,” Johnston said. “This is my second big win. I won once before playing bingo so it feels great to win again.”

Johnston plans to pay some bills and invest the rest of her prize.
