Province reports 471 new COVID-19 cases; 56 for Interior Health region

VICTORIA — The province announced 471 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday (Feb. 5), which includes 56 new cases in the Interior.

The 471 cases bring the B.C. total to 69,716, spread out as follows:

  • 16,042 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 108)
  • 41,603 — Fraser Health (up by 208)
  • 1,782 — Island Health (up by 28)
  • 6,569 — Interior Health (up by 56)
  • 3,681 — Northern Health (up by 71)
  • 144 — Reside outside of Canada (unchanged)

In a release this afternoon, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry reported 4,423 active cases of the virus in B.C.- an decrease of 24 from Thursday. There are 253 patients in hospital and 70 in intensive care.

Six more people have died of COVID-19, raising the province’s death toll to 1,246.

There are 6,886 people under active public health monitoring due to direct exposure to COVID-19. Another 62,567 people are considered fully recovered from the virus, or 90 per cent of all recorded cases.

Dr. Henry says 149,564 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered, including 10,366 second doses.
