KAMLOOPS — Interior Health (IH) is warning people who use drugs of a tainted substance being sold as cocaine in the local area.
A drug alert has been issued for Kamloops today (Feb. 5) with a white powder containing Methamphetamine, cocaine, and Levamisole flagged for overdose risk.
Along with the risk of stimulant overdose, IH says the substance combination can cause infections – including fever with purplish skin colour changes, and other brain disorders. The risk increases with regular use.
People who take illicit substances in the area are urged to have their drugs checked by ASK Wellness, avoid using alone, and have a Naloxone kit readily available. (See more recommendations below)
