COVID trending shows both good news and bad

KAMLOOPS — B.C.’s Chief Medical Health Officer says there are some good trends developing regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.In a news briefing today, Dr. Bonnie Henry says there’s a slow decline starting in the number of cases, but she says there are still some concerns.

In the meantime, Dr. Henry says the current restrictions involving gatherings will continue.

Dr. Henry says there are more cases developing in Northern and Interior Health, while things are looking better in the Fraser Health Authority. and they have concerns about the possible spread of the variants that have been identified, and how those variants are moving within the population. British Columbia has identified 10 new cases of COVID-19 involving variants of concern since Monday, bringing the total identified in the province to 28.

The Health Ministry says there are now 19 cases involving the strain first identified in the United Kingdom and nine cases of the South African strain.
