Royal Inland COVID-19 outbreak grows by five; Westsyde group home outbreak still growing

KAMLOOPS — Interior Health has updated totals for three ongoing COVID-19 outbreaks in Kamloops.

Royal Inland Hospital’s outbreak has grown by five cases Wednesday (Feb. 3) to 91 cases, including 32 patients and 59 staff. There is one death associated with the hospital outbreak, and 59 cases remain active.

At the Westsyde Care Residence group home, the outbreak has grown by one to 19 cases — ten residents and nine staff. The outbreak was declared Monday and all cases are still active.

And at Gemstone Care Centre in Brocklehurst, the outbreak remains stable at 25 cases, including 17 residents and eight staff. There have been two deaths at Gemstone. Only three cases remain active.
