Royal Inland, Westsyde Care Residence COVID-19 outbreaks grow; Gemstone outbreak stable
KAMLOOPS — Interior Health updated the three COVID-19 outbreaks in Kamloops late Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 2).
At Royal Inland Hospital (RIH), five new cases were recorded Tuesday — all of them in staff at the hospital. That lifts the RIH total to 86 total cases — 30 patients and 56 staff. Fifty-nine of the cases are still active. There has been one death due to the RIH COVID-19 outbreak.
At Gemstone Care Centre in Brocklehurst, the outbreak is stable at 25 cases, consisting of 17 residents and eight staff. Two residents have died of the virus and only three cases remain active.
An outbreak at the Westsyde Care Residence group home was declared Monday, with 12 cases identified. Tuesday, IH updated that outbreak to 18 cases, including 11 residents and seven staff.
