One dead, one seriously injured following two-vehicle crash south of Quesnel

QUESNEL, B.C. — One person is dead and another is seriously injured following a two-vehicle collision on Highway 97 near Kersley.

The head-on collision occurred at 9:40 this morning (Feb. 2) just south of the Kersley General Store.

RCMP say a northbound SUV lost control after the trailer it was pulling started to fishtail. The SUV then crossed the centre line and collided with a southbound SUV. The lone occupant of the northbound SUV was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the southbound vehicle sustained serious injuries and was flown for medical treatment from the Quesnel Airport.

The crash has slowed traffic in the area for hours. The investigation is ongoing.
