Driver arrested after crash with pedestrian in downtown Kamloops

Feb 2, 2021 | 1:35 PM

KAMLOOPS — RCMP say a crash involving a pedestrian in downtown Kamloops may have been criminal in nature.

The collision took place at around 11:41 a.m. at the intersection of Third Avenue and Nicola Street.

Paramedics took the male pedestrian to hospital with injuries considered serious but not life-threatening. The driver remained at the scene.

“Police are in the early stages of their investigation as they continue to gather physical and eye witness evidence at the scene,” said Cst. Crystal Evelyn in a news release. “Although the investigation is still ongoing at this time, initial findings suggest the pedestrian and the driver were known to each other and the circumstances surrounding the incident may have involved criminality.”

Evelyn says a woman was arrested and taken into custody.

Any remaining witnesses who have spoken to investigators are asked to call Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 and reference file number 2021-3551.
