Man in crash near Lac la Hache was intoxicated — not a shooting target: RCMP
LAC LA HACHE, B.C. — RCMP say it appears a man involved in a crash near Lac La Hache Sunday (Jan. 31) may have been drinking, but was not the victim of a shooting.
Emergency responders were called to the scene at about 10:52 p.m. Sunday, on Highway 97 near Lovett Road. A Pontiac Sunfire crashed into a semi truck while driving in the wrong lane of the road.
Investigators arrived to find the heavily damaged car with its airbags deployed – but no one inside or ejected nearby.
Not long after, police received a phonecall from a nearby homeowner, stating a 33-year-old man showed up and startled the homeowner. The man had blood on his face and claimed to have been in a crash after he was shot at. When the homeowner called police, the man fled.
