MERRITT, B.C. — The parent company of the Elk Gold Mine southeast of Merritt says it has reached a three-year deal to sell its product to New Gold’s New Afton mine outside Kamloops.
In a news release, Vancouver-based Gold Mountain Mining says the deal will result in the company transporting about 200 tonnes of ore per day — or about 70,000 tonnes per year — to New Afton.
The Kamloops-area mine already mills about 15,000 tonnes per day.
In the meantime, Gold Mountain plans to build its own mill at the Elk Gold site, which would be operational once the three-year agreement with New Gold comes to an end.
