New private air charter provides Kamloops residents with additional route options

KAMLOOPS — A new private air charter service is taking flight out of Fulton Field to connect Kamloops residents with the rest of the country.

Having recently received his license to operate only a few weeks ago, President of Streak Air Bob Strate has only taken a few groups out in his six-passenger aircraft. He says passengers can fly throughout Canada and to the Western United States. So far, most trips have been for business.

“We’ve only done a couple,” Strate said. “We’ve got a trip here in a couple of days up to Prince George and Dawson Creek and down to Kelowna. It’ll happen more and more as we get closer to the spring here.”

Strate says masks are required in the plane and the aircraft is thoroughly cleaned between flights.

With a lack of other flight options due to the pandemic, Strate says the timing was right for starting up Streak Air.

“Obviously we didn’t plan for that — no one knew what was happening here, but I think the timing is actually quite good because of all of this, given that it’s a private charter service.”
