KAMLOOPS — A busy weekend for Kamloops RCMP members included a stabbing, a weapons seizure and a robbery.

Early Friday morning (Jan. 22), RCMP were called to the report of a man who was robbed while walking along the Red Bridge.

The victim said he was walking northbound on the bridge at about 1:30 a.m. when a dark SUV stopped next to him and two men wearing masks got out. The men sprayed bear spray into the air and told the victim to give them anything he had on him.

When he did, they left.

RCMP say they were alerted later in the morning.

Very early Saturday morning (about 12:50 a.m.), members of the detachment’s Crime Reduction Team joined frontline officers in stopping a vehicle after it was seen speeding in the Valleyview area and driving toward Sun Rivers.

At Sun Rivers, officers approaching the vehicle saw drugs inside an arrested the driver.

Searching the vehicle, officers found more drugs and paraphernalia along with a loaded, sawed-off shotgun, ammunition and knives.

Then early Sunday morning, Mounties were called a disturbance involving a fight between two men in the 2700-block of Thompson Drive in Valleyview.

Attending officers discovered that one of the men had been stabbed. He was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Officers located and arrested three suspect, all of whom were released with conditions and court dates.

Anyone with information on any of these files is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000.
