ASHCROFT, B.C. — RCMP in Ashcroft say an abandoned rental vehicle may have given them a line on an illegal drug production lab.

According to a news release, police were alerted to the vehicle on Tuesday (Jan. 19). It had been impounded after it was left abandoned outside a local motel.

Investigators looking into the vehicle found “items believed consistent with the production of illicit drugs.”

While Ashcroft RCMP are leading the investigation, the federal RCMP Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response (CLEAR) team based in Surrey is in Ashcroft to assist. CLEAR is “responsible for dismantling clandestine drug laboratories and processing the hazardous materials often found within.”
