IH says Cariboo Memorial Hospital operating well despite COVID-19 outbreak
WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — Interior Health is reporting a COVID-19 outbreak at Cariboo Memorial Hopsital in Williams Lake is up to 11 staff members.
According to Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Albert de Villiers, no patients have been impacted by the outbreak.
A rapid response team has been sent out to the community to provide assistance in the transport of patients. De Villiers says hospital operations have not been greatly impacted.
“Unfortunately, we had to get some staff to isolate because they’re sick and some staff are actually contacts,” he said. “But, according to what I understand, it hasn’t impacted the actual operation because we do have enough staff. We’ve also had staff from other facilities come in and volunteer, so I think staffing-wise we’ve been doing well.”
