Gemstone COVID-19 outbreak up to 22 cases

KAMLOOPS — Interior Health officials have updated the COVID-19 outbreak at Gemstone Care Centre in Brocklehurst.

According to Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Albert de Villiers, there are 21 active cases at the long-term care centre Wednesday (Jan. 20). That includes 16 residents and five staff members.

One resident of the facility has died of the virus.

The Gemstone outbreak was declared one week ago, on January 13.
