SALMON ARM, B.C. — RCMP are looking for witnesses after an elderly pedestrian was struck and killed by a pickup truck in Salmon Arm last Friday (Jan. 15).

Investigators say just before 3:00 p.m., the woman, who was in her 80s, was crossing the road near the intersection of Third Street SW and the Trans Canada Highway when she was hit by a Ford F-150 as it turned onto the highway.

The woman was rushed to hospital for treatment, but RCMP learned of her death Tuesday.

The driver of the pickup truck remained on scene and police say he is cooperating with their investigation.

Investigators from the RCMP and B.C. Coroners Service have ruled out some potential contributing factors, but hope to receive more information before wrapping up their probe. Specifically, anyone with dashcam footage from the area at the time of Friday afternoon is asked to contact Salmon Arm RCMP at (250) 832-6044.
