Blue Jays reportedly sign All-Star outfielder George Springer
The Blue Jays have reportedly signed star free agent outfielder George Springer, with Toronto and the three-time All Star agreeing to a deal on Tuesday pending a physical, according to multiple reports.
ESPN was first to confirm the two sides are in agreement on a deal, while adding Springer was heading to Toronto’s spring training facility in Dunedin, Fla., for the physical. MLB Network reports the deal to be for six years and US$150 million.
The Blue Jays were unable to confirm the deal when reached for comment by The Canadian Press.
The 31-year-old Springer was considered one of the premier players available after declining his qualifying offer from the Houston Astros — the team he has spent his entire seven-year career with — in October to become a free agent.
