KAMLOOPS —The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack recruitment effort has swept up another all-star and athlete of the year for the Women’s Basketball team.

Ally Lincoln, a 6-foot power forward who graduated from South Kamloops Secondary in 2017, was named athlete of the year when she was in Grades 10 and 12. Lincoln was also all-star at the Provincials, where her team placed second (junior) and fourth (senior).

“I am excited to be back on the court playing on a university basketball team in my home town in front of family and friends. I am grateful to the TRU coaching staff for getting the opportunity to play a high level of basketball for a team that competes hard every day. I am looking forward to being a great teammate and contributing to the team in any aspect they need it,” she said.

Lincoln aspires to become a phys-ed teacher and to coach basketball herself some day. In the meantime, the WolfPack is excited that she is bringing her defensive and team-building skills to TRU. She’s not the first in her family to hit the courts for the WolfPack; her sister Danya was on the Women’s Basketball team in 2016-17.

“Ally will be a great addition to our roster because of her maturity and unselfish character. She likes to play defense and can help a lot our team on the battle of the boards,” said Goran Nogic, head coach of women’s basketball.

“We have been observing her this past year. She has worked on getting in top shape so that in this moment, she is completely ready to join our team. This spring and the whole coming year will be a great opportunity for her to develop and prepare even more, so that in the upcoming fall she is one of the pillars of our inside game.”
