KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are releasing the identity of a sexual assault suspect in hopes other potential victims might come forward.

Cody Joseph, 24, of no fixed address in Kamloops is facing a single count of sexual assault.

According to Kamloops RCMP, a woman came forward after an incident early in the morning of January 10. The woman said she was parked in her vehicle at Riverside Park when a man approached her saying he was injured and needed a ride.

As she gave him a ride, she said the man sexually assaulted her. She reported it to police, leading frontline officers to attend the drop-off spot and arrest a suspect.

“Although police cannot go into specifics at this time due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, it is believed there may be more victims and witnesses who have yet to come forward,” said Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cst. Crystal Evelyn in a news release.

Joseph remains in custody with a court appearance set for January 18.

Victims or witnesses are urged to call Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000.
