COVID-19 outbreak declared for community of Canim Lake
CANIM LAKE, B.C. — Interior Health (IH) has declared a COVID-19 outbreak in the South Cariboo community of Canim Lake. It comes after the chief and council of the First Nations community put it on curfew and lockdown Friday (Jan. 8).
IH says there are at least 32 cases of COVID-19 in the region linked to Canim Lake.
The health authority says it is working with the Canim Lake First Nation, Emergency Management B.C. and the First Nations Health Authority to co-ordinate response activities.
While the outbreak is limited to Canim Lake, IH says increased levels of COVID-19 are being seen throughout the broader 100 Mile House region.
