Real Estate sales strong despite pandemic
KAMLOOPS — One thing the pandemic didn’t hurt in 2020- the real estate market. The numbers are out for 2020, and they show that in December, there were 211 residential unit sales in the multiple listing market. The Kamloops and District Real Estate Association (KADREA) says that’s a 66.1 percent improvement over the numbers from December, 2019.
The average MLS residential price was $492,106, up 25 percent from the $393,500 average price a year ago.
KADREA President Wendy Runge says the real estate market typically slows down during the holiday season, but not in 2020. She says it’s unlike any December she’s ever seen. She expects the trends to continue during January.
Residential sales dollar volume was up by 14.1 percent in 2020, to $1.3 Billion. Interesting to note that in the Merritt-Ashcroft area, the average price went up 17 percent in 2020, while in the Barriere area, the increase year over year was 15.2 percent. In Kamloops, it was 7.4
