Snowfall warning issued for Hope to Merritt section of Coquihalla Highway

MERRITT — Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Hope to Merritt stretch of the Coquihalla Highway ahead of the weekend.

The forecaster says 15 to 25 cm of snowfall is expected to fall between tonight (Dec. 31), and Friday evening (Jan. 1). The snow is expected to taper off by early Saturday morning.

Environment Canada also issued the same warning for Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton via Allison Pass.

Drivers are reminded to take extra care on the mountain highways, and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions.
