Ten test positive for COVID-19 in Vernon long term care facility
KAMLOOPS – Heritage Square in Vernon is the latest long-term care facility to be struck with an outbreak of COVID-19. 10 people, four staff and six residents have tested positive for the virus.
Interior Health declared an outbreak Sunday (Dec. 27). Individuals who have been in close contact with those struck by the virus are in self-isolation and monitoring for symptoms. Family members of the infected residents have been contacted directly.
Interior Health says it is working closely with the private operator to contain the outbreak. Enhanced cleaning protocols are in place and visitor policies have been adjusted. Until further notice, all visits across the site have been halted.
Interior Health says Heritage Square is a private long term care and assisted living facility operated by Kaigo.
