Kamloops community brings Christmas cheer amid COVID-19 by filling B100 Toy Houses

KAMLOOPS — Christmas Amalgamated is ready to deliver gifts to families for this holiday season, but its stock of toys for next Christmas is already piling up.

A team from B100 and CIFM went around the city on Tuesday morning to collect the donated toys from four locations, including Aberdeen Mall. The unwrapped toys for Christmas Amalgamated will be for children next year.

“These toys are for people in our community who may be just on some hard times and just really need that little extra help, whether it’s financial, poverty, especially this time of year and the way 2020 has gone, so when Christmas Day comes the kids are going to be smiling from ear to ear because they have toys,” said B100 host Kayla Derkach.

The team didn’t know what to expect from this year’s toy houses with COVID-19, but they were pleasantly surprised with the numbers of donations to the campaign.
