Police watchdog to investigate after man injured in weekend theft incident on Kamloops North Shore

KAMLOOPS — The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) is taking over the probe into a police incident on the Kamloops North Shore Saturday evening (Dec. 19).

According to an IIO news release, the incident happened at about 8:40 p.m. in the 300-block of Tranquille Road.

RCMP were called to a reported theft in progress at a business. When officers arrived, they encountered a man armed with a weapon.

The IIO says “an interaction occurred” and “the man allegedly sustained injuries from the weapon he was holding.”

B.C. Emergency Health Services personnel took the man to hospital for treatment.
