Bone brought home by Cariboo pooch was not, in fact, human

108 MILE RANCH, B.C. — A 108 Mile Ranch dog owner breathed a sigh of relief last week after receiving word that his dog had not, in fact, brought human remains back home.
According to 100 Mile House RCMP, the dog’s owner contacted police on Dec. 15, believing he may have found a human finger bone in his dog’s kennel. The man said he didn’t know where his dog may have found the bone.
Members of the B.C. Conservation Officer Service went to the home and took the bone, forwarding photos to their identification service.
It turns out the bone originally belonged to a bear’s ‘finger’ from a paw, and Fido doesn’t have a taste for human after all.
