TK’EMLUPS — Tk’emlúps administration is notifying the community of potential COVID-19 exposure at a band building.

A notice posted to the Tk’emlúps te Secwe̓pemc Facebook page says a worker who was inside the CLC building on Friday (Dec. 4) has tested positive for COVID-19. The worker received the positive result on Monday, December 7 and is in self-isolation.

The employee had been working from home, and walked through the CLC building during the lunch hour on Friday to meet with another worker.

This person was in the CLC building between 12:30 p.m and 12:55 p.m on the second floor of the school building and the third floor of the administration building.

TteS says nurses from Interior Health and Qwemtsin Health have deemed no one within the buildings were or are at risk of exposure. An interview also confirmed that the worker followed health protocols in place at the facility and wore a mask, sanitized their hands upon entry, and practiced physical distancing.

Band administration says it will continue implementing current precautions and it recognizes the TteS community and staff want to have as much information as possible regarding COVID-19.

Any other Tk’emlúps employees who test positive for COVID-19 are asked to let their manager or supervisor know and contact Health and Safety Advisor Ron Tronson at (778) 220-6209.
