SALMON ARM – RCMP used a pair of spike belts to stop a speeding stolen vehicle and make two arrests in the Salmon Arm area early Sunday (Nov 22) morning.

Mounties in Salmon Arm were advised of a stolen vehicle from Alberta that had raced away from police in Revelstoke along the Trans-Canada Highway. The vehicle was seen exceeding a speed of 160 km/hr.

The belts were laid across the highway in the Canoe area near Salmon Arm. Police say once the stolen vehicle was stopped, the two suspects made off on foot.

However the foot chase was short-lived and the two suspects were taken into custody.
