KAMLOOPS — Brocklehurst commuters will breathe a big sigh of relief come next week. The City of Kamloops says Tranquille Road will re-open to traffic between Southill Street and Nicolani Drive next Monday (Nov. 23).
Sections of the route have been closed since May for below-ground upgrades to the sanitary sewer main that serves Brocklehurst.
With the road completely dug up for the sewer line work, the City took the opportunity to make several improvements for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians.
- There will now be a centre left-turn lane between Southill and Desmond Streets
- Dedicated turn lanes have been added at the intersection with Desmond Street
- A multi-use pathway has been built on the south side of Tranquille between Southill and Desmond Streets
- A new bus pullout has been added on the south side of Tranquille, just west of the intersection with Desmond Street
