KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops says the tightened COVID-19 restrictions announced by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry Thursday (Nov. 19) have led to a series of changes to City operations.

In a news release, Mayor Ken Christian says the mandate making mask-wearing the law in all public spaces is relevant to all civic buildings.

  • City officials are contacting those who have booked community halls to ensure their plans comply with the provincial guidance putting an end to social gatherings over the next two weeks.
  • An in-person public engagement session on the North Shore Plan that was slated for this Saturday has been cancelled and replaced with an online session. (Details here.) All public engagement for City of Kamloops projects will be virtual until the end of 2020.
  • Council meetings, Committee of the Whole meetings, public hearings and committee meetings will be closed to all but council and staff. The public can participate via Zoom.
  • Some high-intensity indoor fitness classes have been cancelled for the remainder of the fall session.
