Tickets selling well for limited space Wildlights event at BC Wildlife Park

KAMLOOPS — The BC Wildlife Park is encouraging people to purchase their tickets for Wildlights soon.

Due to COVID-19, fewer people will be allowed in to the annual event. For this reason, fewer tickets are available and people are encouraged to purchase ahead of time.

Tickets went on sale on Friday (Nov. 13) and have been selling quickly.

“Ticket sales have been great so far,” said Executive Director Glenn Grant. “I’m a bit surprised; I didn’t think people would buy tickets in advance quite so quickly, but weekends are quite popular, opening weekend is really popular, and Christmas Eve, we’ve sold quite a few tickets for Christmas Eve.”

The event, which runs from Dec. 11 to Jan. 3, will be limited to 500 guests per night. Paths will be set up for one-way only traffic, food service will be takeout only and there will be no corporate Christmas parties.

“But what we have done this year is added a lot more lights,” Grant said. “So, those who might recall the light tunnel of last year going down the back road where the cougars are, it was 250 feet in length, and this year it’s going to be 500 feet. So we’re going to double that. I don’t have a calculator large enough to calculate how many lights that’s going to be, but overall in the park there will be about 800,000 lights.”
