Spike belt helps nab dangerous driver after Trans Canada tour through Shuswap
REVELSTOKE, B.C. — An early morning spike belt deployment helped put an end to a run from police near Revelstoke Monday (Nov. 9).
According to an RCMP news release, a member of the public phoned Chase RCMP just after midnight Monday morning, complaining about a newer model white Ford F350 pickup driving erratically.
About 25 minutes later, a Salmon Arm RCMP officer tried to pull the truck over near Sunnybrae-Canoe Point Road in Tappen. The truck didn’t stop and sped off eastbound on the Trans Canada Highway.
At about 1:30 a.m., Revelstoke Mounties tried to pull over the vehicle, this time using a spike belt. The belt deflated one of the truck’s tires and it came to a stop.
