Kamloops Home Hardware employees test positive for COVID-19

KAMLOOPS – UPDATE: Home Hardware has released more information on the two employees who tested positive for COVID-19. One worked in the contractor sales department from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm on Thursday November 5th.

The other affected employee worked as a retail sales clerk on Saturday November 7th from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Anyone who may have come into contact with the two employees is urged to self monitor for COVID-19 symptoms.

EARLIER – The Kamloops Home Hardware and Building Centre on Jesop Way and Halston Avenue has closed its door voluntarily after two employees tested positive for COVID-19.

In a news release, store officials say one employee was last in the store Thursday, November 5th. The other was last in the store Saturday, November 7th. They received their test results in the last two days (Nov 10 & Nov. 11).

The store will be completely disinfected today (Nov. 11). Officials say they are committed to the health and safety of employees and clients. It says it will continue to follow health and safety guidance from the B.C. Ministry of Health and Interior Health.

Anyone who may have visited the store on November 5th or November 7th should self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19. Interior Health identifies the most common symptoms as:

  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Cough or worsening of chronic cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Sore throat
  • Runny nose
  • Loss of sense of smell or taste
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhea
  • Loss of appetite
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Muscle aches
