Tourism Kamloops reports banner year for destination golf
KAMLOOPS — There is a silver lining around what has been a disastrous year for tourism in B.C. and the Kamloops area in particular.
According to Tourism Kamloops, destination golf had a banner year with revenues up 107 per cent.
It was a roller coaster to get there though, with booking off by 65 per cent in the three months after the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in B.C.
But with Phase 3 of the B.C. Restart Plan enacted for July, booking requests skyrocketed in July and August. Tourism Kamloops says those two months were up 500 per cent compared to the same months in 2019.
