B.C. NDP post upset victory in Vernon-Monashee

VERNON, B.C. — It’s now official.
NDP candidate Harwinder Sandhu is the new MLA for Vernon-Monashee, the first New Democrat to win the riding in 36 years.
According to the results posted at 12:40 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 8), Sandhu is 424 votes ahead of three term Liberal incumbent Eric Foster.
Going into the final count, Sandhu was trailing Foster by 183 votes, but went on to win after the 8,614 mail-in and absentee ballots were counted over a three day period.
