Elections BC mail-in ballot counting has Kamloops-area vote totals moving

KAMLOOPS — Elections B.C. began counting mail-in and absentee ballots Friday (Nov. 6), meaning voters in a pair of Kamloops-area ridings will get a better idea of who their MLAs will be.

Both Kamloops-North Thompson and Fraser-Nicola saw election night margins of less than 1,000 votes for their B.C. Liberal incumbents.

As of 2:00 p.m. Friday, Elections B.C. had counted 101 of the estimated 5,116 mail-in and absentee ballots in Kamloops-North Thompson. The margin for B.C. Liberal Peter Milobar over B.C. NDP challenger Sadie Hunter had shrunk from 791 to 764 votes.

At the same time, Elections B.C. had counted 248 of the estimated 2,433 absentee and mail-in ballots in Fraser-Nicola. With those counted, B.C. Liberal Jackie Tegart had increased her lead over Aaron Sumexheltza of the B.C. NDP from 353 to 393.
