$850,000 approved for Quesnel’s waterfront development project

QUESNEL, B.C. — $855,559 has been approved through Northern Development’s Strategic Initiative Fund for the City of Quesnel’s waterfront development project.

The Project would secure the enhancement of eight kilometres of riverfront, allowing for future economic opportunities such as boutique shopping, patio dining, and river recreation.

“This particular investment will enable us to accelerate the implementation of our waterfront development strategy, a key component of our plan to position Quesnel as an attractive destination for visitors, residents and investors,” said Quesnel Mayor Bob Simpson.

The project will also feature the Lhtako Dene Cultural Centre and will improve on already existing amenities such as the Riverfront Trail and Fraser River Footbridge.

The project encompasses three main areas, the renewal of the Fraser River Footbridge landing, a plan for Indigenous interpretive elements along the riverfront trail and improved lighting along the riverfront trail from the Fraser River Footbridge to the hospital.
