Local production company releases two very different film projects

KAMLOOPS — Two locally produced film projects have recently been released.

Jenn Stahn took her passion for search and rescue and turned it into a concept for a documentary. She decided to follow search dogs and their handlers through the validation process.

The film, Sit. Stay. Search. received funding through Telus STORYHIVE in July of 2019 and began filming immediately.

The finished product was released a little over a week ago.

“I am so proud of how this turned out and the story that it tells and how my team pulled together to really tell the story,” Stahn said. “I think it accurately portrays exactly what these people are doing, these volunteers are doing and how much hard work that they put into it, so yeah, very very proud.”

Stahn was also involved in creating the pilot of a web series called The Participant, which received funding around the same time as Sit. Stay. Search.

The host of the series learns about popular activities in Kamloops with the first episode highlighting the sport of pickleball.

Stahn hopes for future funding to complete the series.

“Releasing it allows us to go out and start looking for that funding so that we can look at the option,” she said. “Unfortunately, with COVID, a lot of the activities that we did plan on following aren’t happening right now anyway, so there would be a delay regardless of whether we had funding. Some of the things we had wanted to look at were dragon boat racing and lawn bowling and horseshoes and things like that. So, a lot of activities that did get canceled this last year unfortunately.”
