IIO to look into fatal Armstrong accident

KAMLOOPS — The Independent Investigations Office will be asked to look at an incident yesterday (Oct 25) that resulted in the death of one man and a female taken to hospital.
About 3:00 AM Sunday morning, a Vernon-area officer spotted what was thought to be an alleged stolen vehicle heading south on Highway 97A near Armstrong. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle which wound up in a shallow ditch. The driver was dead at the scene, a woman was taken to hospital
Highway 97 A was closed for several hours. IIO BC is investigating to determine whether police actions are linked to the man’s death. Because the case is now under investigation by the IIO BC, no further information will be released by police.
