KAMLOOPS — The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) is investigating after a woman was seriously injured in the course of being arrested by Kamloops RCMP last week.

According to an RCMP news release, Mounties were called to a residential facility in the 1800-block of Greenfield Avenue in Brocklehurst last Wednesday (Oct. 14).

The caller reported that a woman had threatened another person and was running up and down hallways in the building.

When officers arrived, they determined she had a weapon. As the officers disarmed her and took her into custody under the Mental Health Act, the woman was injured. She was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
