More than 680,000 British Columbians cast ballots in advance polls

KAMLOOPS — Elections B.C. says the last day of advance voting in the provincial election was the busiest.

According to numbers released Thursday morning (Oct. 22), more than 116,000 British Columbians cast ballots at polling stations Wednesday ahead of Saturday’s general voting day.

The preliminary total of all votes cast in advance voting is 681,055.

In Kamloops-North Thompson, 8,041 voted in advance. For Kamloops-South Thompson, the total was 9,061.

Meantime, Elections B.C. says about 396,900 vote-by-mail packages have been return, representing about 55 per cent of all packages issued.

Mail-in voting packages can still be dropped off at Elections B.C. offices set up in each riding.

General voting day is this Saturday, with polls open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. For a listing of voting locations, click here.
