KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say a well-being check last week led to the discovery of a man who had been prone on the floor of his living unit for four days.

According to Sgt. Darren Michels, the man’s family called from outside of Kamloops on October 13, saying they had important news for the man but hadn’t heard from him in several months.

An investigator tracked down the man’s address and confirmed with neighbours that the man had not been seen for several days.

When no one responded to a knock on the door, the officer obtained a key and went inside.

The officer found the man “in very grave condition” on the floor. He said he had fallen four days earlier and was unable to call for help.

An ambulance took the man to hospital, where he continues his recovery.

“All too often RCMP members are sadly subject to discovering a deceased person who hasn’t been heard in some time but fortunately for this man the investigator came at the right time,” said Michels, who added the man’s family was very happy to hear of his discovery and rescue.
