Canada West scrubs season in several sports, including basketball and volleyball

KAMLOOPS — There is more bad news for the Thompson Rivers University athletic department.

Canada West announced Thursday (Oct. 15) that the seasons have been cancelled for basketball, volleyball, hockey, wrestling and women’s rugby 7s. The cancellation includes regular seasons, playoffs and championships.

For TRU, that will affect the men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball teams.

Canada West says it has yet to make a decision on curling, track and field and swimming competitions.

The decision comes after Canada West delayed an earlier decision in order to assess the feasibility of competing “given the evolving COVID-19 environment.”
