54-year-old license plate doesn’t fool Chase RCMP officer

SORRENTO, B.C. — A prohibited driver’s clever plan to outwit the authorities hit a snag in Sorrento last month.

Chase RCMP were called to the Subway restaurant on Sept. 24 after receiving a report of a suspicious woman in the area. The caller noted the woman’s vehicle had an odd-looking license plate affixed to it.

The attending officer found the woman still in the vehicle’s driver’s seat. Investigation determined she was prohibited from driving.

The odd-looking license plate was, indeed, from British Columbia — from 1966.

In addition to a charge of driving while prohibited, RCMP say the woman was also issued a ticket for driving with an invalid license plate.
