TRU to honour renowned autism advocate, animal welfare researcher
KAMLOOPS — Thompson Rivers University is set to announce an honour for a prominent autism advocate and animal welfare researcher.
The university says it will confer an honorary doctorate on Temple Grandin next week.
In a news release, TRU says Grandin “has changed the world’s perception of what people with autism can achieve.” The Colorado State University faculty member is renowned for her work in evolving the process of livestock handling.
“Dr. Temple Grandin embodies so much of what TRU stands for. Her work to understand animals speaks to us and our region, particularly situated as we are in ranch country,” said TRU President and Vice-Chancellor Brett Fairbairn in the release.
