WILLIAMS LAKE, B.C. — RCMP in Williams Lake are seeking witnesses to an attempted child luring that took place on the afternoon of Oct.6.

Williams Lake RCMP say that they received the report this morning (Oct.7) from a school administrator, who said a child reported the incident to her. The child explained that a man had asked her to get into his truck, while she was walking home from school on Tuesday, Oct.6. She says she was walking alone in the area of Proctor St. and 3 Ave. between 3-3:30 p.m., and ran home after the encounter.

“We are very interested in identifying and speaking with the driver of this truck to determine what his intentions were with this child,” said Staff Sgt. Del Byron.

The man is described to have been driving a red and shiny truck with a silver stripe on the door; it appeared to be either brand new or recently washed; runs quietly and is large in size.

Suspect description:

  • Heavy
  • In his thirties
  • Fair to Medium skin
  • With red, black and blue tattoos (believed to be on his arms)
  • Short, dark brown to black hair
  • Moustache
  • Spoke English with no accent

“If you were in the area of 3 Avenue and Proctor Avenue yesterday (Oct.6) afternoon and were a witness to this incident, or have dash-cam or other surveillance video we are asking that you call us,” said Byron.

A similar incident occurred in Quesnel earlier this week, however, RCMP say there are no links between the two at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Williams Lake RCMP at 250-392-6211.
